Gender Pay Gap Report 2023

publish our Gender Pay Gap Report to provide insight into pay and bonus outcomes for men and women across our
organisation, and to help inform the actions we take to promote equality and diversity. Our 2023 report is based on the snapshot date of 5th April 2023. On this date, Orion Electrotech
employed 285 people and, as an employment business, our reporting includes both internal employees
and agency workers on our payroll. The report is generated using 285 full-pay relevant employees:
216 agency workers (161 male / 55 female) and 69 internal staff (28 male / 41 female).
Key findings and takeaways
- Across our combined workforce (internal and agency), the mean gender pay gap was 8.5% and the
median gender pay gap was -1.9%. - The mean gender bonus pay gap was 22% and the median gender bonus pay gap was -131.0%,
reflecting differences in bonus structures and the distribution of bonus payments. - In our internal workforce, the mean gender pay gap was 40.4% and the
median gender pay gap was 36.6%, influenced by a higher proportion of senior male employees following
promotions and a company restructure. - Female representation within internal pay quartiles shifted year-on-year, including a 15% increase in the
lower pay quartile and a 2% reduction in the upper pay quartile compared to April 2022. - Bonus participation differed across internal staff, with a higher proportion of male employees receiving bonuses
due to sales roles earning commission, and the report provides context to support interpretation.
Understanding the results
As a recruitment business, our gender pay gap results are shaped by the industries we operate in and the structure of
our workforce. Agency worker pay is often set by our clients, and the sectors we support remain traditionally
male-dominated. Bonus arrangements also differ between internal employees and agency workers. For clarity, the report
includes additional analysis of internal employees only alongside the combined workforce data.
Our commitment
Orion is committed to equality and to developing a better understanding of our gender pay gap so we can implement
appropriate actions to promote equality and diversity as an employer. For our agency workforce, we will continue to
introduce both male and female candidates to our clients, dependent on individuals applying.
