Yard Controller – Lead, Organise and Drive Improvements

We’re recruiting for an experienced Yard Controller to join a growing manufacturing business in Peterborough. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Yard Controller who enjoys taking ownership, leading people and improving processes within a busy operational environment.

The successful Yard Controller will oversee the day-to-day running of the yard, supporting goods in, goods out, stock control and logistics operations across multiple nearby sites. If you’re the type of Yard Controller who can bring structure, improve organisation and ensure products are located and dispatched efficiently, we want to hear from you.

This isn’t a role for someone who simply wants to maintain the status quo. The business is looking for a hands-on Yard Controller who can identify improvements, increase efficiency and help support ongoing growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate daily yard operations
• Lead and support a team of 4 operatives, with plans to grow further
• Oversee goods in and goods out activities
• Ensure stock is accurately stored, organised and easily located
• Coordinate product movement between nearby sites
• Operate a forklift when required
• Improve yard layout, organisation and efficiency
• Work closely with production and logistics teams
• Monitor stock movements and inventory levels
• Ensure customer orders are dispatched accurately and on time
• Maintain a safe and efficient working environment

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience as a Yard Controller, Yard Supervisor, Yard Manager or similar
• Experience leading or supervising a team
• Strong goods in/goods out experience
• Forklift experience is essential
• Forklift licence beneficial but not essential
• Experience handling large, awkward or oversized products
• Strong organisational and stock control skills
• Ability to implement improvements and take ownership
• Manufacturing, logistics, stores or yard background
