Josie Shear

Meet Josie

I’m Orion’s Senior Internal Recruitment & Learning and Development Consultant. I support the business by bringing in exceptional people and helping them build the skills and capabilities they need for success. My work spans talent management, learning design, and people initiatives that strengthen performance, engagement, and retention across both the Aylesbury and Reading offices.

What attracted you to working at Orion, and what were your reasons for joining?

I was drawn to Orion because of its people‑centred culture, genuine commitment to development, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across both recruitment and learning. The role offered the perfect blend of strategic planning and hands‑on collaboration, alongside a supportive environment that encourages fresh ideas and continuous improvement.

What is your proudest achievement at Orion?

My proudest achievement has been contributing to the evolution of our internal recruitment and development processes, helping to create a smooth and engaging experience for new starters and existing colleagues. Playing a role in initiatives that strengthen our culture, refine onboarding, and support clear development pathways has been incredibly rewarding, especially seeing colleagues thrive as a result.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Orion?

I love the variety of my role, from finding great people to join the business to providing 1‑to‑1 staff development that helps teams grow and succeed. The collaborative and welcoming environment makes every day enjoyable, and I value being able to make a tangible difference to both individuals and Orion as a whole.

What are your interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I’m passionate about antiques and love spending time hunting for unique pieces with a story behind them. I also design and sew clothing as a hobby, which lets me be creative in a completely different way. I’m an animal lover at heart and share my home with several pets who keep the place fun, busy, and full of fur.
