Case Study: TechPoint

Situation

TechPoint is a UK-based electronics design, manufacturing and supply chain solutions provider with more than 40 years of experience supporting global technology businesses. The company delivers end to end services including PCB assembly, prototyping, supply chain management and frequency control product manufacturing. With a highly skilled engineering team and advanced production capabilities, TechPoint supports customers across sectors such as aerospace, healthcare and security, providing solutions from concept through to volume production.

Tasks

TechPoint had recently acquired several subcontract electronics businesses and planned to bring these operations together into a new supersite in Basingstoke. Alongside this consolidation, the company was also experiencing rapid growth and needed to scale its workforce quickly. The challenge was to recruit for expansion while managing the relocation of existing employees and backfilling roles for those who chose not to move. As TechPoint was not yet widely recognised as an employer in the area, strengthening its employer brand was also a key priority in a region with many competing electronics manufacturers.

Actions

To support TechPoint’s hiring strategy, we worked closely with their leadership team to develop a strong recruitment partnership and improve their visibility as an employer.

We created a dedicated recruitment microsite to showcase the business, its culture and the opportunities available at the new Basingstoke site. Branded LinkedIn campaigns were launched to raise awareness of the TechPoint brand and attract skilled candidates within the local electronics manufacturing market.

TechPoint also partnered with Orion through the TalentFlex model for all permanent recruitment. This allowed us to provide a consistent and scalable hiring solution while acting as a true recruitment partner to the business. Members of the wider Orion team spent time on site meeting hiring managers and gaining a deep understanding of the company, its processes and its culture, which enabled us to represent the brand effectively in the market.

Results

The partnership enabled TechPoint to build its workforce during a key phase of growth and transition.

A total of 54 permanent roles were registered during the project, with 39 successful placements made through the partnership. Roles that were not filled were either placed on hold or filled directly through TechPoint’s internal recruitment efforts. The structured recruitment approach and employer branding initiatives helped strengthen TechPoint’s visibility in a highly competitive local market.
